The holiday and unexpected summerlike (hot!) weather made this a perfect weekend for wineries. We chose two Virginia vineyards – one small and one large. The first was in a barn, sitting at a makeshift bar in the shadow of the crusher and stemmer (see Carolyn). The second had a patio, a pond, and a 94-year-old matriarch who ruled the tasting room and gave a piece of her baklava to anyone who bought a bottle (see me, and my feet).

In case your other friends might wonder, the first was Two Twisted Posts and the second was Doukenie! Both in Hillsboro, VA. It was a delightful afternoon. Thanks for the memories.
